“Last Chance For A Slow Dance”
A short film where two people walking in opposite directions are caught in an awkward dance on the street. This goes on for two minutes and reaches ridiculous heights.
Starring Lee Berger, Emma Wiseman, and Ali Abidi. Sound by Ali Abidi. Written, produced, and directed by Shaun Seneviratne.
Shot on a Canon T2i with Zeiss 50mm using a Jag 35 Field Runner set-up. Audio with Tascam DR-100 and Sennheiser shotgun mic. Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.
Featuring the following music that I do not own but highly encourage purchasing (links below):
Birthmark - “Balloons” and “On Birthdays” http://birthmark.bandcamp.com/album/shaking-hands
Joan of Arc - “Olivia Lost” http://www.polyvinylrecords.com/store/index.php?id=183
Euphone (feat. Tim Kinsella) - “Friend in Common” http://www.polyvinylrecords.com/store/index.php?id=948
In the midst of procrastination, I finally learned how to play “White Out” by Joan of Arc and recorded a quick version on Garageband using only MIDI sounds. Enjoy!
Thank God for Babylon!

This is blowing my mind now! What a good cover.
Joan of Arc as the JOAN OF ARC POWER TRIO!
Tim, Bobby, and Theo played stripped-down, rock versions of Joan of Arc songs. I’d like to see them do a full tour like this. They also played “Post-Coitus Rock”. Here’s to hoping that videos of the entire set make it to internet!
Here’s the setlist:
Explain Yourselves #2
Flowers
Many Times I’ve Mistaken
Who’s Afraid of Elizabeth Taylor
If There Was A Time
Pioneering New Emotions
As Black Cats Make Cat Hairs Appear
So Open: Hooray!
Please Sleep
My Summer-Long High Wipeout
Post Coitus Rock
In honor of the Don’t Mind Control Variety Show Release Party, Intelligentsia Coffee created a special Joan of Arc blend.
Ever since we got our shipment, Danielle’s been starting off every day with a cup and she’s never been more productive (although she has developed an irresistible urge to play Boo Human on the stereo every couple hours).
The brew is now up for sale in our E-Store — so if your mornings have been a little lacking lately, rinse out your favorite coffee mug and get a 16 oz. bag of Joan of Arc’s “Afternoons Mourning Blend” (Dick Cheney and Mark Twain not included).
The description from the E-store:
Do you need that bounce in your step that comes from hitting bottom? Are you always in a hurry and an hour late for everything, just in time? Are you over the counter-productive culture, just staying alive and loveless, born looking tired?
This unique slow roasted blend, dynamically balanced sweet and savory, may be an acquired taste, but has rich rewards for the sophisticated palette. Easy to drink on an empty stomach or a broken heart.
World-renowned Intelligentsia Coffee created this special blend in honor of the Don’t Mind Control variety show.
Contains whole beans grown in Papua New Guinea, Bolivia and Brazil.
love it.

This is off of Joan of Arc Presents: Don’t Mind Control, which features pretty much everyone associated with Joan of Arc.
Joan of Arc - “Life Sentence/Twisted Ladder”
My favorite song of the intentionally varied new Joan of Arc album, Flowers. In a recent interview, Tim Kinsella said:
There was a lot more rearranging of things this time, and also this time we were more aware of the music as a collection of songs [than only as an album]. You know, because records are such an antiquated form now. People just listen to iTunes on shuffles, so we wanted to sort of respond to that.”
This song is driving and poppy and the guitar work is a lil’ more reminiscent of Ghosts and Vodka than Joan of Arc. My other favorite songs on the album are “Delicious Herbal Laxative” and “Fogbow”.
Joan of Arc - “White Out”
Live in Chicago, 9/5/2004
Joan of Arc is a fantastic live band in the fact that you can always count on them to play songs differently than the record. This recording is from their 2004 tour when they were playing with an orchestra (and they called themselves Joan of Orchestra). I was considering posting the other version of “White Out” that’s on Live in Muenster as an example of their accessibility to those who may be weary of stepping into Kinsella territory, but I did say I was going to try to bring rarer live tracks to ya this week, so here ya go… Don’t worry, this song is still poppy, melodic, catchy, and smart.
Joan of Arc - “Explain Yourselves #2”
Wow, another new album already! Boo! Human just came out this time last year. Tim Kinsella, you’ve been keeping busy. And by the sounds of it, you’ve churned out something I’ve never heard Joan of Arc do. This song is fantastic. I’m super stoked for Flowers, out June 9 on Polyvinyl.

Pre-order the album here.
Jeezus. New Joan of Arc, Owen, Aloha, Get Up Kids, Blink 182, and Ghosts and Vodka (maybe). Plus, Bob Nanna’s new band Certain People I Know, and Blake Schwarzenbach’s new band, Thorns of Life, and a solo record from Ben Barnett (Kind of Like Spitting)…good fucking year for music. Totally outshines the bad (Limp Bizkit and Sublime reunions).
